The Grand Circus of Patriarchy – Group Exhibition at Canteiro
The cultural space Canteiro presents the group exhibition The Grand Circus of Patriarchy, curated by Talita Trizoli. Twelve female artists from different regions of Brazil, with diverse backgrounds and practices, come together to showcase the results of months of research within the Feminist Support Group for Women Artists (G.A.F.). This exhibition delves into masculinity—a theme historically underexplored by women artists. Through paintings, drawings, videos, sculptures, and installations, the artists materialize their desires and frustrations surrounding the world of masculinity, using their own experiences as a starting point. Fathers, lovers, sons, and alter-egos emerge, highlighting the complexities of gender dynamics and the lingering imperatives of the gender binary.
